Viewing different versions

1. Find and go to the object you wish to view.

   The latest version of the object, whether published or draft, is always displayed on the Content pane.

2. Select its name, to open it in read-only mode in the application it was created.

2. Select for the object then Details to open its Details page.
3. Expand the Versions section.

4. Select the name of the specific version to open the version's Details page.

   Or select for the specific version then Details to open its Details page.

   To return to the current version, select the Parent hyperlink listed in the General section.

You can open a specific version of a document to view its contents if you have Objective Director installed and the appropriate permissions. The document is opened in read-only mode.

1. Find and go to the object you wish to view.
2. Select for the object then Details to open its Details page.

3. Expand the Versions section.

   The current version is listed at the top of the section with earlier versions below. Draft versions are labelled as draft and any comments you have added when editing and releasing a version are displayed.

4. Select for the document version you wish to open and view then Open.

   If you are on the document version's Details page, select Open on the Summary section.

   The document version opens in its native application in read-only mode.

Document versions that have corporate value applied are identified with an icon and can be specifically opened and viewed.

1. Find and go to the object you wish to open.
2. Select for the object then Details.

3. Expand the Versions section.

   The current version is listed at the top of the section with earlier versions below. Draft versions are labelled as draft and any comments you have added when editing and releasing a version are displayed.

4. Select the document version with an icon to open it.

   The document opens in its native application in read-only mode.

The Open option for an object is only available if you have Objective Director installed. Open enables you to view the object in read-only mode in the application it was created.

You can open an object in one of two ways:

Method 1

1. Go to the object you wish to open and view.

2. Select for the object listed in the Content pane then Open to open it in the application it was created. You are able to view it in read-only mode.

   Or if you are on the object’s Details page, select Open from the Summary section.

   If you wish to edit the object, return to Objective ECM and select on the object card then Edit new version.

   If you edit the object while you are in read-only mode, you will need to save the object to your local device then upload it as a new version.

Method 2

1. Go to the object you wish to open and view.

2. Select the object’s name in the Content pane to open it in the application it was created.

   You are able to view it in read-only mode.

The Download option for an object is available if you do not have Objective Director installed.

Downloading an object places a copy of the object on your local device usually in the Downloads folder.

1. Go to the object you wish to download.

2. Select for the object listed in the Content pane then Download to place a copy of the object in your local device’s Downloads folder.

   Or if you are on the object’s Details page, select Download from the Summary section.

   If you wish to make changes to the object, return to Objective ECM, select for the object then Edit new version.

   If you make changes to the downloaded object, you will then need to upload it to Objective ECM as a new version.

You can return to the current latest version of a document from a specific version by selecting Go to document on the Summary section of a document version's Details page.

If you have created an alias to a specific document version, you can return to the current latest version of the document by selecting Go to document from the expanded document version card or by selecting then More actions > Go to document from the document version card.
