Previewing objects

Easily preview a document to see if it is the one you want to work on without having to download or open it. You might be able to tell if it's the one you want simply by changing your display to the grid view. Depending on how Objective ECM has been configured to generate thumbnails, you may be able to preview a number of different document types. Although you will always be able to preview image files. The number of pages of a document type that you can preview is also configured by your Objective ECM administrator. Normally you can preview the first 5 pages of a document. The thumbnails in grid view are always the last published and/or latest draft versions of the objects, depending on how your system has been set up.

Select an object icon in compact or comfortable view to display it in preview mode. If you are in grid view, select the thumbnail to preview the object. You can also select the thumbnail in the Preview section of the object's Details page to open it in preview mode.

The version that is displayed in preview mode is normally the last published version. As the object owner or a user with appropriate privileges, you can view the latest draft version of the object in preview mode.

Previewing an object is not an action that is listed in your Dashboard's Recent documents.

The preview options available for documents / PDFs are listed in the table below and a subset of these is available for images.
