Saving emails using Objective Automated Email Capture

Objective Automated Email Capture (AEC) allows you to create a link between Microsoft Exchange (Outlook) email folders and Objective ECM. The link is created by simply dragging–and-dropping a Microsoft Outlook folder into an Objective folder. Once the link is established, all emails (including attachments) residing in or added to the Microsoft Outlook folders are automatically added to one or more Objective files/folders without user intervention.

All email messages added to Objective ECM by the AEC:

  • are stored as an Email Message object type.
  • are stored in .eml format, enabling you to open them in Microsoft Outlook directly from Objective Navigator.
  • have their attachments embedded. AEC can be configured to save the attachments as separate Objective documents.
  • can have organisation-specific metadata automatically applied to emails as they are captured.

For system administration advice and supported platforms, see the Automated Email Capture Service section of Objective ECM Installation and Administration Help.
