Opening Microsoft Office documents
Whichever Microsoft Office application you are using, all Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word documents will be listed but only the applicable type and their aliases will be available for selection.
- In an open Microsoft Office application, select from the Home ribbon.
- On the Open dialog box, select Objective

Select the document from Recent Documents if it’s listed or for it.
If you have previously accessed an Objective
Or select to open the Select document/workbook/presentation to open dialog box.
You can also drag-and-drop an Objective
There are a number of browse options for you to choose from:
- On the Recent tab, select an object from a list of objects that you have recently opened and edited, then .
- On the Handy tab, use the Navigation pane to browse your Handy, select an object, then .

On the Home tab, use the Navigation pane to browse your Objective Home folder to find and select the document/workbook/presentation you are interested in. Then choose .
Object aliases will not be displayed on the Home tab.
- On the Global tab, use the Navigation pane to browse your Objective Global folder to find and select the document/workbook/presentation you are interested in. Then choose .
- On the Find tab, select the object type from the drop-down and enter your search criteria in the adjacent textbox. Select to display the search results. Choose a document/workbook/presentation from the results list, then .
The document is downloaded by Objective Director and opened in read-only mode.
- Only the first 70 characters of a long file name are displayed in the Recent Documents list.
- The selected document opens in the Microsoft Office application. Depending on the state of the selected file and your privileges for the document, you may be able to:
- Only view the document as it is in read-only mode.
- View and edit the document as it is in edit mode. The document will be identified with an
icon.
