Starting a workflow
As a workflow user, you are able to start a workflow either from the workflow itself or from a specific object (normally a document, file or folder which is known as a case object), that already exists. When you start a workflow, a workflow slip is used to capture information that dictates the path of the workflow.
When you start most workflows, a task form is displayed in another tab / window of your default browser, for you to enter the required information and select actions.
Tip: You can only start a workflow, if the workflow map is in the published state.
Workflow maps are created using the Workflow Editor which is accessed from Objective Navigator.
- Start a workflow.

From a Content pane
You can start a workflow from a Content pane that lists files, folders and documents within your organisation’s file plan.

icon to open the Details Summary blade and then in the Workflows tab ,select the workflow from the list.

From an object card
- Go to the case object for which you wish to start a workflow.

- Go to the object for which you wish to start a workflow.
- Select for the object then to open its Details page.

Choose a workflow from the list that you wish to start, then .
A new browser window / tab opens displaying a task form for you to complete in order to start the workflow. If a start task form is not displayed, it might mean that the workflow started silently - for more information, see Starting a workflow below. If an
icon is not displayed next to a workflow, it indicates that the workflow is silent.The Choose a workflow blade is no longer displayed once a workflow is started.

Enter the required and/or optional information for the fields on the task form, then the workflow.
The fields and actions on the task form will vary based on the workflow's start task definition.
Once you have started the workflow, you will receive a message letting you know that it has been successfully started. Any errors will also be displayed. Close the current window / tab of your browser and return to the main window / tab of Objective
When a workflow starts and a workflow slip is created for that workflow, you can view related tasks in your Tasks page.
The Choose a workflow to start blade displays to the right of the Content pane.
