Saving your linked documents, workbooks and presentations

You can save a newly created document, workbook or presentation that has links to other documents, workbooks or presentations from its respective Microsoft Office application to Objective ECM.

Follow the procedure in Saving your documents, workbooks and presentations to save the parent document into Objective ECM.
After finishing your changes, when you close the saved document you will be prompted to release your document and add the child documents.
On the Release from Edit dialog box, choose how to add the parent and any child linked documents:
- Add as new - new objects added to Objective ECM with a unique object ID, or
- No action - objects are not added to Objective ECM
Select the appropriate Link type for each child linked document.
Select Next.
Upload each of the new parent and child linked documents.

If your document had originally been saved on your local drive, the Delete original from disk checkbox is available for you to tick. For new documents that have not previously been saved, this checkbox will not be displayed.

If the Delete original from disk checkbox is ticked, then the original document will no longer be available on your local drive but will be registered in Objective ECM.

If you do not have permission to delete the document, it will be uploaded to Objective ECM, and a message displays letting you know that the document on your local drive cannot be deleted.
Select Save.

The document is available from Objective ECM IQ or Objective Navigator.
